SFU, Harbour Centre
Dr. Jennie Williams of Inequality Agenda will be piloting her Gender Equality and Mental Health (GEMH) training module through the Centre for the Study of Gender, Social Inequities and Mental Health at Simon Fraser University this summer. The aims and objectives of the GEMH module are to build staff confidence and competence in working from a gender-informed perspective with people who have mental health needs.
The limited spots were quickly filled by CGSM trainees and staff as well as staff and service providers from local community mental health care organizations.
The GEMH module was successfully piloted in 2009, and the Department of Health is now supporting Inequality Agenda to make this course available throughout the country. The Centre is thrilled to be supporting this training module for the first time in Canada.
